Friday

We started our weekend with lunch at Megat's apartment. He organised a small gathering to welcome his newly arrived friends from Malaysia as well as his mum who is here in Doha for a month long holiday.What was on menu? Nasi hujan warna warni, chicken curry, acar & sambal..yummy.. Masakan ibu!!!


At night, I invited myself to Zals house for a sweet mee bandung for dinner... tasty but sweet. Never mind, Zals will make it perfect next time.. Thanks Zals for 'inviting' us..

Saturday

We went to The Corniche on Saturday morning to buy fresh squids for the dinner.. We ended up buying the crabs as there was no squid that morning.

Then we off to Ibn Umran for breakfast at Nizam Ken's house. It is more of a gathering to welcome the arrival of his newborn from Malaysia.

We close our weekend activities with shopping at newly reopened BHS in The Landmark shopping mall... Up to 25% discount for all merchandises... Another reason to spend some money... haha

Cheaper air travel in the Middle East?

Read in the Gulf Times today about the new concept airline called Bahrain Air that will start its services on 1 Feb 2008 from Bahrain to few destinations including Doha, Alexandria, Amman, Beirut, Chittagong Colombo, Damascus, Dubai, Khartoum, Kuwait, Mashad and Sanaa.

This is the 2nd national carrier for Bahrain after Gulf Air. It will also be the 2nd low cost carrier in the GCC after Sharjah based airline, AirArabia.

Welcome to wet Friday in Doha...

It rained this morning.. Yes. I mean rain!!!! You may ask what is the big deal? It is a big deal if you live in the Middle East..We have not seen any kind of rain for the last 6 months since we are here. And today, it rained. It has been a wet Friday today. Change of weather condition from hot in summer, cold in winter & wet in Jan... Fantastic!!!

The rain was not as heavy as in Malaysia. It is enough to satisfy our crave for wet day in the Middle East.. According to the more experience people in Doha, the rain marks the beginning of cold weather. Last year the temperature dropped drastically after the rain. Heaters were out of stock in all supermarkets.. It will not happen happen again this year. Heaters are flooding the supermarkets today..

The temperature in Doha has been very cold lately.. Last few days, on my way to office, I noted that the temperature outside was 5 degree Celcius... wow!!!! Unbelievably cold. At times I thought we were in UK rather than in the middle of the desert in the Middle East...

On average, the temperature has been hovering around 17 Celcius.. With wind blowing, it is enough to make you shiver even with your jacket on..

The good thing about it? I could wear my leather jacket which I bought during my trip to Pakistan...hehe. I suppose it is the time to be fashionable..Even our little Alisha has been asking for scarf..huh.. At the age of three she is fashion conscious, I am not very sure what is in store for us in the future..haha
