Happenings in Doha

The weather is forecasted to be below 15 Celcius again in the next few days. A forecast from BBC News in its website predicted that the temperature would be ranging from 2 to 23 Celcius tomorrow, Sunday 24 Feb 2008. Interesting... Most people already sent their jackets for dry clean & stuffed them away in the closet.. Look like they have to bring them out again...

Apart from the weather, we can always find something interesting in the next few days..

1. The Robot Zoo Exhibition.

The Robot Zoo Exhibition is currently going on at the Corniche. This is the 1st time such exhibition comes to the Middle East according to The Peninsula newspaper. According to a friend, the exhibition is pretty interactive & can be a good learning point for kids. Off course the parents will find it pretty boring.. ;-)

2. Doha Cultural Festival

Apparently this is the 7th Doha Cultural Festival held in this country. It promises a lot of activities. The festival will run from 28 Feb 2008 to 6 Mac 2008. Don't miss the opportunity. Several interesting cultural festivals have been line up for visitors.

You can always check for details at the website published by the organiser, National Council for Culture Arts and Heritage here.

Selamat Jalan PM

PM here means Pakcik & Makcik!!!! Not what you think. Sorry to dissappoint you.

The time has finally come to bid farewell to Pakcik & Makcik. They are actually parents of Yeen.
Both have been in Doha for almost six months to provide support to the proud parents of the new born, Baby Myra. Since Baby Myra is their first baby, both of them need every possible support. For that, Yeen invited her parents to be with them during the last month of her pregnancy and confinement period.

Pakcik & Makcik had been part of our live in Doha. They followed every single activity we organised from Breakfast@Corniche to makan-makan session.

Last weekend was the last weekend we spent time with Pakcik & Makcik. For that, Aiyeen organised a BBQ followed by karaoke session. Pakcik also contributed few songs.. My comment-Should I know Pakcik sing so well, I would not touch the microphone that night...hahaha. I would not embarrass myself...

For those who did not want to menSUMBANGkan lagu that night, they decided to play table tennis instead...

Such much activities, so much food.. What a way to bid farewell to Pakcik & Makcik.. Harap-harap berjumpa lagi..

Wheels & Heels 2008

This is the 3rd consecutive year for such event to be held in Doha at The Corniche yesterday. We braved the temperature of 13 Celcius to attend the event.

The stunt by professional bikers attracted the most...

Thanks to our good friend working with Platinum Sponsor of the event for highlighting to us about the event. Else, our Friday would evolve around makan-makan
only..haha

It ain't over till it is over

The cold weather does not seem to go away for now. Winter is not over yet. When we think it is over, it is here again.

Yesterday was very cold. Temperature was around 13 Celcius only.

When I received the forecast for the weekend from a colleague on Thursday, I shrugged it off. How could it be when the whole week last week temperature was around 20 Celcius. True enough, at around 7.30pm on Thursday evening strong wind started to blow. And mercury dropped!!! Yesterday, the temperature was back to 13 Celcius for the whole day.

And today, it is bright sunny Saturday. Is it not fun to live in this country? It is a challenge itself to keep up with the weather...

Still fresh in my memory about a comment made by Margaret Thatcher, ex-Premier of UK on British weather. She once said that you could have 4 seasons in 1 day in UK.. hmm. I just hope we don't have to face it in Qatar..
