This is the day we set our foot in Qatar. It has been a year now. Time flies... When we 1st set our foot in Doha, we did not know what to expect. One thing we were sure off was the HEAT...
May be I should list down our experience for the last one year.. I would nominate the experience to get the driving licence as top of the list... It made the experience to get a driving licence in Malaysia was like a chicken feed..
I also had the chance to meet my junior whom I never met on the very 1st few days in Doha. He was far too junior..hehe. Thanks Deen. With his kind help, we managed to get around the city to look for apartments. Through him, I got to know few more Malaysians working in several companies in Doha. I would say that was the beginning of our busy times in Doha. Now, those people are like family to us.
In the space of one year also, we saw the departure of Deen, Dom and Aizal & Yeen from Doha. They chose to pursue their careers outside Doha.. People come, people go. The memory is here to stay...
We witnessed the Malaysians growing in numbers in Doha for the last one year.. We also met friends whom we lost contact long time ago.. They unexpectedly turned up in Doha. What a pleasant surprise!!
One thing for sure, the experience in Doha for the last one year is something to cheerish.

BBQ@Singing Dunes (30 May 2008)
This was the 1st activity organised by Malaysian Association of Qatar (MAQ) under the new exco.. Facts that we should know about the Singing Dunes :
1. Singing Sand Dunes in Qatar is one of approximately 30 sites in the world where sound is produced from sand dunes naturally. Yes, there are only around 30 sites in the world only that can produce such sound.
2. The Singing Dunes must shape in a semi circle, forming a natural desert amphitheatre to be able to produce the sound.
3. Noise from singing sand dunes, which have been reported in the Middle East for OVER 1500 years, have been described as "roaring, booming, squeaking, singing or musical".
4. For singing to take place, the sand must be extremely dry – even the presence of 0.1% moisture will reduce the effectiveness of the singing. There is still some controversy over how exactly the sand dunes produce the sound (see The troubled song of the sand dunes). However, it is certain that for the sound to be heard the sand needs to be put into motion. When the singing is heard, the sounds' vibrations can sometimes be felt reverberating through your body.

Sorento vs Civic
Just guess who the winner was... May be the pix can tell the story better than me...
It happened in front of our apartment when our good friend from Shell waited for his turn to turn left. Luckily nobody was hurt...
The funny part was that the Civic left visible H mark on the bumper of the Sorento.. hehe. The not-so-funny part was that we waited for two hours for the police to arrive to record the statements from the drivers. It was not funny when you had to stand in the heat for two hours! I had to run for cold water at the nearby supermarket as we did not keep ice in our freezer.
From the accident also, our good friend managed to get to know a Malaysian lady staying at the apartment next to ours. We never knew her existence before..
